A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

N Hey gs heads. I have a 1980 gs1100e I'm rebuilding. Little background. Got in a trade in complete parts. Have most of bike put together. Need some help with wiring. Does anyone have a accurate wiring schematic in color or black and white for my year bike. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also can anyone recommend a good aftermarket all in one ignition system?

chris, I suspect you will find your wiring diagram on BassCliff's web site. I recommend you download it, take it to a copy center, and blow it up to a larger size so you can read it and trace the wires. (I use 11x17 because it folds in half and becomes 8 1/2 x 11, which fits in a standard folder or manual.) I usually make several copies and then use multiple highlighter colors to follow the wires stem to stern.

Awesome. I appreciate the help. Koolaid kid. Awesome idea about blowing up the schematic. And color coating myself. That will help a lot.

Bass cliff thanks for the links. They helped with some other questions I had. Keep up the good work. Much appreciated.

which is better and why. Please explain.

which is better and why. Please explain.

I have read a lot about the ignition systems thanks to the awesome research done here. I probably haven't stumbled upon it yet. I have the 80 gs1100e I want to change the stock ignition system. What is better to run on my bike for everyday use and why. the dyna s ignition system.or the dyna 2000 system. What are the pros and cons. Some input from the legends of the site would be much appreciated.

thanks a bunch

I never changed my stock ignitor even though I have and wired the gs1100ed for a dyna s. first things to improve is the voltage to the coils with a coil/ ignition relay mod. The get more sparky coils ; I like the accel coils and wires but the dynas work as well. If you want more the do the dyna 2000 for the rev limiter but till the coils/wires and proper voltage will give you full potential of a generally stock bike
