Okay guys...

I have placed many posts about charging issues. I finally bought new parts.. New stator and Regulator .. They are both "Ricks" components.. and they look great.

Okay.. here is the situation.. i plugged everything in the way it is supposed to.. and now.. every time i turn on the bike .. the bike's "MAIN" fuse blows..

This happened to me before when i bought a new regulator with the old stator....
Here is the history on the bike.. hehe
1982 gs1100glz.. 20,000 miles.. Pretty much new battery. new stator new R/R.. new plugs, oil, dif oil.. etc.. connectors all checked out.. all ground wires good..

I cannot find my manual.. sooo.. i was wondering if somone can sent me a FULL schematic for the GS1100GLZ...
I was just poking around and was checking out the fuse box... well.. on the main fuse i checked both leads and tried to see if there is continuity to ground.. and i see sometimes there is continuity to ground... so.. i just need to check all the wires and see where they go. if you know the harness that goes to the fuse box... there are 2 red wires.. and like 4 orange wires with differnt color stripes.. and there is a ground..
i checked the red wires and they were not continuos to ground.. but the other four wires are.... so i am thinking that is my problem.. maybe... not sure.

So.. again i thank everyone who is helping me...
Please if someone can.. send me a FULL wire schematic of my bike ...PLEASEEEE...

Please email me at maluman@gmail.com or just post it here in the site....

thanks to everyone again...
George..

P.S. I am an Authorized dealer for any ricks products... it will be the same prices ricks charges.. so anyone want to know about anything.. let me know.
My email again is MALUMAN@GMAIL.COM

George

I sent you a copy of the wiring print, any problems let me know, anyone else want a copy of the wiring print from the factory manual not the clymer which is WRONG let me know...

hey brycraft

hey brycraft

Hey thank you so much for you help....
i was wondering.. did you send the email to
maluman@gmail.com ??? i have not recieved it yet...
i was just wondering... thank you

George

question,

question,

Hey guys... i have a question for you about my problem with the regulator causeing the main fuse to blow...

well.. i know alot of you guys had said that when you connect the regulator to the bike that you connect the ground connection to the battery directly... so.. i was wondering if you can also do that with the positive wire too!

so what i mean is .. the regulator totally charging the battery with out going through other wires..

please let me know

Thanks in advance

George Joseph

Hi, actually that red wire does go to the battery via theright side of the 15 amp fuse, however it also splits to the ignition switch. There isn't a lot of distance between that conector and the battery and it is protected by a fuse which sole purpose is a saftey. It is better to leave it proteced by the fuse then bypassing it. For some reason the engineers felt it was necessary to run that thru a fuse to the battery. Going right to the battery only eliminates the wire going to the fuse panel. The gain I dont believe is worth the risk of losing the fuse protection. That fuse protectes the battery as well as the rectifier. If that fuse is blowing it is blowing for a reason, without it you could burn up the wires and actually start a fire, I wouldn't recommend it...
