Ok so I am going to forget about the forward controls on my gs850 L. Based on what I have read they are not as easy on your back over obstacles. I do however like the foot peg idea. I currently have foot pegs on my gs the stock ones on the crash frame. Those however I way to close for me since I am tall six four. So my question which high way pegs work well with the gs? I am not sure all pegs will work since the gs has a large motor that sticks out both sides.

Thank you

You short guys just like to whine about your problems, don't you? :-k (I passed six-four before I was in high school. :p )

Take a look at the pictures in my sig, you will see where I have pegs on my 850 and my wife's 850L. Hers are hard to see, they are in pretty much the same place as mine.

That location is not really a place to strretch out, it's more of a change of position than a stretch. :o

Who you callin short? Just kidding. Well it just seems like most bikes are small for me. But that could all be in my tall head. I currently have the same pegs on my bike that you both do. I have seen some attached to the frame further up. I was thinking about removing the crash bars around the engine and installing some pegs on the frame that adjust closer or further I will probably go further.

Gonna be a few weeks before I can use my hand but I will be sure too when i make them

I haven't used them yet, but they were there when I bought the bike. Basically a 1/2" square steel bar with some pegs bolted to it, and u-bolts attaching it to the frame.

Yea that is basically what I drew up. It would be very easy to make. Lemon, could you give them a try and report back on vibration? I am betting some rubber between frame and bar is needed but i'm curious to hear about it from your actual experience.

Sure, but I won't be able to ride for a week or two. Waiting on clutch parts.

If I'm not mistaken, there's no rubber at the mount for the stock pegs, just rubber where your foot rests. So I would expect that's all you would need.

I was looking today at how i'm going to do mine and taking another look at yoiurs that location seems way too high up. I'm looking to put mine right on the front engine mounts, which on mine seem lower placed. Sitting on my bike they are a good spot but your picture maskes it seem like my legs would be straight out.

Basically two brackets will bolt right to them (longer bolts will pass through the brackets) and go toward the front enough for the cross bar to clear the pipes, Then the factory passenger pegs will be mounted at each end.
