A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

How does a Guiliari seat mount?

Was able to snag one for my 550 project but I don't know how they attach to the frame. It doesn't look like they have provisions for the hinges or a latch.

The more I look at it, and after some Googling, I don't think this is a 550 seat, at least not the '77-80 models.

I contacted the seller and asked him not to ship until he can confirm.

It looks to me as though it slips into a slot in the front behind the tank and latched down in the back where the two bolts are protruding from the pan. You will need some form of seat latch mechanism for the rear of the seat on the frame.

I don't think it's for a GS. More like for a GPz or a later model 550.

Looks surprisingly similar to the one I have on one of my 550s - but not exactly the same:

My seat had a sticker on it's bottom, explaining where to mount the tabs/hinges. I vaguely remember that it even provided some measurements. I'll take a picture this evening.

It looks to me though that the one you're showing here uses a completely different mounting style, with the screws at the front/back.

Maybe these originally required to drill the correct holes by oneself prior to installation, and this is some PO's doing for a different bike? - would be very weird though.

Edit: Hm, no, comparing the seats some further, it seems to me your seat is for a bike with a completely different rear cowling/rump. Maybe not even a 550? Not familar with the lineup...

After further communication with the seller, he has the correct seat and it's on the way to me!

Yep, that's the one.

Match it up with clubman bars or clip-ons, and you're gonna have LOADS of fun.
