How much hp ?

Blower

Forum Mentor
How many hp can -86 1150 EFE crankshaft handle ?
I?m going to put Eaton M45 blower in my bike . Boost is going to be under 10 psi . No intercooler , minimega fuel injection + megaspark ignition .

I had my stock 85 crank welded and balanced by Falicon, then ran nitrous for fifteen years. probably three or four times a year or so maybe more, I wasnt counting. the motor was near 200 hp under nitrous.

I heard of the mega squirt, but not the minimega. Should have guessed.

How do you plan to inject? What pump, injectors? Plan to inject into blower's inlet?

Do yourself a big favor and send your crank to Stan Gardner and get the works.

Jay

I?m going to build tpi ijection . Throttle body i think to mount in to the blowers intake. All injection parts are from Saab 9000 turbo . Blower is from Mini Cooper S ( it needs some milling to fit ) .

I live in Finland so it can be quite expensive to send crank to USA .
But i have heard at -86 efe crank is strong enough to handle 200 hp without welding .

This is my first Suzuki project , before this I?ve been building harleys . My own bike http://216.118.118.21/dbbp/coolest/panheads/pasi_12.jpg , http://216.118.118.21/dbbp/coolest/panheads/pasi_13.jpg

Supercharged

Supercharged

That should be very interesting. I run a 17% smaller pulley on my MINI CooperS for more boost. How are you adapting the supercharger ducts to your intake ports?

Don?t start yet , but i have to make whole intake manifold from scratch .
Blower is going to be behind cylinders , outlet side positing upwards .
Ther is not much room , so first thing is to make wooden mallet and then start to hammering aluminium plates on it . Lot?s of hammering , clearance fit and welding .
I can put some pic?s when i have something to show ( it can take few months ) .

I have a bunch of Harley parts that I was going to use. They have a nice throttle body that you may be able to use directly if you plan on setting it up as a draw system.

Just my own experience with the cranks, I ran a stock 83 GS1100 with 7PSIG draw turbo, small tire slick. No crank welding and stock gears. I must have ran this for three seasons, plus drove it on the street with a tire change.

Would love to see some shots of the turbo in place. My mom's a Mini freak, I am too, but she actually owns a MC40 Special Ed... I just have models and Hot Wheels... one day... one day

Seeing that hes putting a blower on and not a turbo, I don't see this happening anytime soon......

Just testing the new GSresources system out

Oh, whoops... mixed this up with another thread, but should any progress be made on his project I'd love to see it (turbo or not).

It doesn't involve a Mini (that I'm aware of) but check out Marco's site for turbo pic's:

Hi,
I'm Marco of the just aforementioned turbo-site. Love the idea of the Mini Cooper S blower on the GS. As we speak a buddy of mine is building one onto an FJR1300 with std. blowthrough carbs and apparently it runs now. If you send me an email I'll mail you his email address.

About the crank: Street GS1150's can survive a mild turbo setup with the std. welding and helical primary gears. It's only when you go dragracing when you will find wear and probably a bent crank. So just lower CR to about 1:8 and give it some throttle!

nb: It's always better to have a full weld & balancing job on the crank ofcourse.

Marco.
