I have to share my misfortunes, so that others may learn without suffering as much as myself.
I had a good GS gas tank that I was going to sell to a GSresources member.
Well, it WAS a good tank.
It had a couple (bad) dents in it but it looked good inside. I figured I'd pop the dents and do the buyer a favor. I decided to weld a rod on and pull the dent that way. Filled the gas tank up with water, sandblasted the spot, and zapped the rod on.
It worked!! The dent pulled out. However, it wasn't perfect yet, so I had another go. I pulled on the rod - and the tank started peeing on me.
Long story short, I was so upset with myself for destroying a perfectly good tank, that I burned around the logos (rather than unscrewing them), and smashed the tank into a pancake with a sledgehammer.
Upon closer inspection, the seams were practically virgin.
For the future, A VERY THIN rod should be used on a VERY LOW setting.

I feel for you man...and i would have done prolly the same thing...Its not a funny situation, but picturing you going to town on it with that hammer still...
