As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

I have a GS1100GL that i have replaced the rectafier and stator on. The battery is still not charging. How do I test these two things I put on to make sure they are working? Also if they are working what else could be wrong? Please help.

First off, welcome to the GSR. You did yourself well to find the site. BTW, how did you find the site? Did you use a search engine? That's a hint: now that you found us, please try using the search feature to find the info you need. The Advance Search works best, particularly if you click Titles Only and search on key words. Charging system problems are common with old bikes, with old wiring. There are literally hundereds of different threads exactly like yours, and the info is sitting in the archives waiting for you to find. No need to reinvent the wheel here. Hint: search on the terms "stator papers", that will get you started.

Good luck and welcome again.

Look on Basscliff site and look for Stator Papers and that should give you all you need to test. It maybe bad connections, also did you hook r/r directly to stator and bypass old wiring through old harness? That should be on the site also. Also best to hook red wire from r/r directly to battery with fuse in between and be sure r/r has a good ground and even ground the body of r/r to frame of bike. Also have your battery check to make sure it's still good (bad r/r good fry it). Hope this helps. terrylee

I worked on a 1100g one time It seems to me the stator plugs into the main harness ??
Do yourself a favor and make new wires Direct from the stator to the regulator

dm,

Welcome to GSR.

Pretty much what others have said:
- need a volt ohm multimeter.
- find the Stator Papers
- get a schematic for your bike (maybe on BassCliff site)
- follow all the checks on the stator papers. Many checks there to check a lot of things, any of which can cause problems. But the big check is hte stator no load voltage test.

So, if you replaced the stator and the R/R... and still not charging ... hum...

my vote is the R/R is not well grounded. THat is one of the checks in the Stator Papers, withh bike running, check voltage with one meter lead on the R/R black wire (usally connected to solenoid mounting bolt) and other meter lead on battery negitve. Should be zero point zero (or close like 0.2volts) because those two things should be connected togeter by the black/white wire throught the wiring harness (but has to go through a few connections).

So, get a meter, get the Stator Papers ... and tell us morew what you find.

(also, tell us where you are located).

You'll find lots of helpful information on my little website too. Check the stator and regulator guides on the homepage and all of the supplemental information in the Electrical Odds and Ends section. Mr. posplayr has written some outstanding procedures to enhance the Stator Papers.

Anyway, let me dump a TON of information on you and share some GS lovin'. :D

I just stopped by to welcome you to the forum in my own, special way.
