A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

First a wee bit of history.
I have been trying for ages to get a plug cap (NGK YB50F) for my GS1000ET with no luck. There is some issue with the importer blah blah.
So I thought bugger it and bought some red dyna leads (cause red will make it faster)
The leads are copper and caps have no resistors.
My understanding is that the resistors were only for filtering RF. Correct?
The ET has transistorised ignition. Will the RF affect it? Do I need resistor plugs?
Cheers

I don't think you need resistor caps per say, but cars you drive past might start to target you since the bike may mess up their radios.

I trust you understand that getting the stock coil wires loose is not assured - sometimes they come out and sometimes they don't. Of course, if you have aftermarket coils this last comment is moot.

Good luck.

i bought ngk plug caps in akl just the other day
dont know the code but they are 120deg long
bought 4 of and they fit just fine

look better than those rubber caps you get with those leads, imho 8-[

I had no probs getting the long caps but they just stuck out to far and looked a bit lame.
It was going to cost me more in freight from Auckwardland than from the 'States
Your right The NGK caps look better. When I find some (at the right price) I will put them on.
Cheers

Plug Caps

Plug Caps

Be carefull here standard caps are 8k resistance if you change both you are taking 16k resistance out of coil secondary,I tried straight through non resistive NGK caps on my GS1000g and it affected running changed back to standard and was fine,Cheers Paul J....

About the long caps sticking out: The long ones used in center two cyclinders. Shorter one on cyl 1 & 4 so they dont stick out so far taward you knee.

Dont know how this compares to your 1000E, but on my 1100G they are XB05F and VB05F (dont recall which is the short and which is long).

Thats right mate.
There are two long caps on the center two pots and shorties on the outside.
Of course it is the outside one that is cracked.
Cheers
