A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

My mufflers were rotted out so I picked these up and I'm kind of lovin the sound and the look.

Looks Good

Looks Good

They look good. How different is the sound from the stock mufflers?

They do look good. How did you do it? A nice pictorial, or at least a description would be nice. Did you have to cut the old ones off? And yes, how do they sound compared to stock? And was there any re-jetting or calibration of the carbs necessary?

Mufflers look great. I'm a huge fan of the stock Suzuki exhaust but they are getting harder and harder to find in good condition.

How about some more details on how these were mounted? Stock mufflers are welded to the 2 into 1 collector so they have to be cut off to install something different. What diameter inlet does the muffler have and do you have any leak issues?

Those look like Dunstall knock-offs. An old member here has a set on one of his bikes and they look and sound great.

Yeah, they are Dunstall replicas and not to pricey either. Even though the manual insisted that the original mufflers can be unfastened from the headers, no such luck, they are welded on as most of you know. So I cut the welds with an angle grinder, and welded in a piece of 1 5/8 tailpipe exhaust that had one end pressed smaller to fit into the muffler. Then it was clamped on and the universal bracket bolted on. It took a while to remove the original piece of muffler collars that were still in the collectors. I haven't noticed any difference in performance but I've only owned the bike for 2 weeks and haven't really pushed the limits yet. One thing that did help was using peel and stick foam around the hatch for the air filter to seal it up better. The old seal was gone. Lots of little stuff to do like petcock rebuilding, O-Rings, etc. I'll take some pics of stuff that I do from now on......

Oh yeah, I forgot, they do have minor leakage at the joints. I know that there is a product to apply before installation, I just have to remember what it is. Hmmmm, that could take a while. Oh well, spring is here now so I think I'll go for a ride, maybe that will jog the memory. Worth a try....

Ill sell the stock exhaust system from my '82 GS850L. It is in real decent shape- Came off my bike at 22,000 miles and is in good condition for that many miles. Make an offer if interested- deesel@juno.com
