A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

whats up fellas and ladies,

i been kickin around the forums for about a year now. really nice place. anyway, ive got a 1981 gs550L, and i was thinkin...

you know those milsurp alice packs?
http://www.vtarmynavy.com/alice_packs_and_parts.htm

well what a guy needs to do for camping, travel, whatever, is rig up a detatchable setup.... basically a drop-and-lock type of thing where youve got a female end attatched to your bike and a male end attatched to the frame of the alice back.

drill some holes, drop in a few locking pins, and youre on your way.

im probably going to attempt it this weekend... i'll post and let yall know how it turned out.

major problem right now is that the frame is alluminum...
all heliarcing aside, its going to suck trying to figure something out.

any ideas would be appreciated.

thanks

hi there,
I ride a gs850g... onboard is a " gearsack " rack and sack. I then carry an army pack in front of that... so it sits on the pillion seat faceing forward.
To secure the army/alice pack, I simply run the shoulder straps over the gearsack bag, crossing them as I go, then clip the shoulder straps to there securing sockets at the lower rear corners of the army pack. These shoulder straps are adjustable so it fits very firmly. I recently did a 4000 klm trip with absolutely no drama.

That is what I do, I hope you get something from it.

Good luck with the project.

Swampfox;
unfortunately I am imaginatively challenged - i.e. could you post a picture of your setup? Sounds interesting...

hi Eddie
As soon as I learn how to post a pic, I will......... if you can advise me, that would be good

I usually just use some Arno straps to lash a backpack down over the rear seat and tail section. I've even fastened a golf bag on the left rear passenger foot peg.

I'd be interested if you came up with something good!
