All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

This may seem like a dumb question. BUT I feel like my igniter unit is either in the wrong spot... OR its missing some sorta connector. Does anyone by chance have a pic OR an exploded view of where the igniter is supposed to be mounted.

Well, you are going to have to give us a clue. :-k

It has been said that the GSR hive-mind is rather omniscient and darn near omnipotent, but we are not yet clairvoyant.

WHAT BIKE ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT????

It's nice that you have a location in your profile, but please also add a signature that mentions your bike.
Does not have to be fancy, like some of us have, but something as simple as "Current bike: '8x GSxxx".

.

If this is a gs650 shafty.... The ignitor is mounted on a plate that is on bottom of air filter box. From left side, look underneath and passed the battery box. - you'll see the r/r hanging on same plate: the ignitor should be mounted right above.

My igniter is mounted on the bikes frame.
Hope that's vague enough for a very vague question.
And mine is located on the battery box.

Since you don't know what bike I have, the information is just as relevant, just as vague and just as accurate.

Sorry everyone I completely forgot to add that its an 83 GS650GL... Sorry about that. I should've double checked the post before i made it.

Circled in red in the current position of the igniter.

Now add that to a signature and you will not have to remember to mention it again. :encouragement:

Apparently, it's in the right spot, it won't fit in very many other places. Should be two connectors on it. One will have four wires, the other might have either two or three.

When pods were added, stock airbox/filter were removed.....so ignitor and r/r were re located. Did you buy it like this? Did you get a box with the stock airbox stuff as a thank you gift?
