Igniter Units: 83 GS750E vs GS1100E

Hi!

I have noticed that the redline on the 83 GS1100E is at 9,500 RPM, and that the one in a pic for an 83 750E seems to be at 10,000 RPM. This makes sense to me. The 750 would rev higher than the 1100.

Are the same RPM differences found in the rev limiters within the igniter units for each of these bikes?

In other words, will the 750 rev higher than the 1100 before cutting out because of the rev limiter within the igniter unit?

I don't believe they have a rev limiter in the ignitir on either model....

Dan is correct. There were no factory rev limiters till Suzuki started putting them on GSXRs at some point. The 1100 rev limiters were the valves hitting the pistons & shutting the engine off! Ray.

Oops! I was taking for granted that all of these bikes had rev limiters.

I already have a Dyna S along with the Dyna coils. Other than investing in a complete Dyna 2000 system, I guess a DRL 300 will do the job.

i believe the 83 750 box has more lead built in.
i will post this information again.
i know 100% for sure(have done this)multiply times...
the 750 box is plug and play on 84-86 1150's.

The 1100E model bikes have a mechanical advance unit.

The '83 and onward 750 (other than the 1983 Katana that used the older engine) received a second gen. 16V engine and an ignitor WITH the spark advance built in.

You can not use an '83 750 ignitor on an 1100E because of the spark advance system is completely different.

Just to make sure ... are you talking about a 1983 16-valve GS1100E?

I just checked the parts fiche at Bike Bandit and the 83 GS1100E has a mechanical advance. I owe twr1776 an apology; I thought they were electronic. Dang it!
