DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Ignition coil replacements

It took a couple of weeks of research, but I think I finally found some suitable coils! The mounting points should even match the stock units. I'm ordering them now - I'll post again once they're delivered, installed, and tested.

RMStator p/n: RM06168

For posterity, these coils are intended for a '99 to '09 Yamaha VStar 1100.

The new coils came in today - they fit perfectly! You'd never know that they weren't stock. Straight bolt-in replacement, with no modifications necessary. The only difference is which end the spark plug lead comes out from, and that doesn't have any effect on anything.

Thank you to everyone who helped! Much appreciated!

I gotta say I'm quite impressed with that manufacturer, RM Stator. They have a lot of cool electronics for sale that they apparently manufacture themselves. They have excellent prices (these coils were only $20 each), shipping only took 2 days, and the coils were even packaged in some nice high-quality boxes! It's pretty rare to find a company that seems to get everything right these days!
10/10 - I highly recommend them!

That looks like a good find! I did a lot of searching recently for coils for both of my non-Suzukis, and prob would have gone with them had I found 'em. One is a '74 Laverda triple that uses a single output and a dual. I'm upgrading the ignition, and the original Bosch are not suitable. The other is a dual-output 12V on my Norton, which had a Tri-Spark that heat-sunk after only 2K miles. TEK looked like a possible way, they are often used replacements for Suzuki, came on GoldWing 1200s and other bikes I think. In the end I got 4into1 Dyna copies, similarly priced to yours, and the Norton's running great. Soon I'll attack the Laverda. The 4into1 knockoffs are 3-ohm; that is at the bottom range of what my Norton's Wassell Vape ignition specifies. All seems good. The symptoms on the Norton were classic heat-sink, cutting out when hot, and starting fine when cold. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on an expensive coil, only to learn it's something else. Brings up throwing good money after bad, being cheap, and chucking the dice thoughts. Anyway, I bought what I thought was a quality coil which didn't work out for me the first time with the Tri-Spark. Good luck.
