    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I pulled my tank and it pulled the fuel line from the main carb fuel intake port. Now I can't get the original line back on it. Plus the original line is so short I tried a longer line, but it's a tiny bit larger diameter than the original. I got it on with a clamp, but now it won't connect right to the in-line filter.

My bike has been dripping gas all night. I need to get this fixed. It seems like a simple problem, but the entire fuel line system is larger in diameter than standard "new" fuel line but slightly smaller than the alternative I found after going many places.

I could force a new type fuel line onto the port if I could get to it, but I can't. It's driving me crazy. Any advice would be appreciated.
 
Use metric fuel lines, VW, Volvo, BMW, Mercedes all use thre same sizes we do, they have good quality hoses unlike the ill fitting crap sold in bike shops. You can put the hose on the carbs with a tube to hold the line straight, or even a long rod inside the line.
 
I recommend OE Suzuki fuel line. It's thin and stretchy, with a 7mm inside diameter. Automotive fuel line is designed for high pressure application and it much thicker and it requires a clamp and is hard to install. Also, clean your gas tank if it's dirty and loose the extra filter since they cause more problems than they solve.
 
I picked my fuel line up at NAPA. Use a long philips #2 screwdriver and put it into the tube, with about an inch open where you will connect to the carb.

I agree with Nessism on the fuel line. There is a distinct difference between the utomotive stuff and OE Suzuki hose.

Here's what happened. I went to Napa, no joy. I search and search online with very little luck. Finally I found some auto line - a little thicker with a cloth outer - at a vintage VW site. It went on just fine. It's very flexible and all is well.

Thanks for the help. Once I know what size line to purchase it was just a matter of finding something that would work.
