A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Sorry, man. Just havin' a bit of fun because I was so excited that the help I got here led me to getting my bike running perfectly. Didn't mean to cause trouble.

Actually, I can make amends,...

...I'm thinking about switching out my 19" front wheel with something slightly smaller. I don't need to go to 16" or anything, but 18" or 17" might be nice.

What kind of problems would I encounter? Any way to make my speedometer/odometer still be consistent without switching it out? This whole project will have the dual benefit of allowing me to switch to dual front discs, although if it's a big deal, I have an extra 19" wheel with dual discs on it, just need the right fork with the caliper mount and a new master cylinder, correct?

No such fork leg exists

you'll need fork tubes from a dual disc bike, the smaller discs and calipers

Or, see 8 trackminds conversion

Sorry, that's what I meant. Fork tube.

Hmmmm,...wouldn't the fork tubes from an earlier 1000 work? Some of those models had dual discs. The L 750's did too, but they had the leading axles, which I want no part of.

It would probably cause your idle to be erratic and frequent stalling combined with a big rise in rpm when hot and...

Am I wrong in thinking I can get the right side fork tube from a 1100 with the caliper and master cylinder? I've already got a 19" wheel from a 750L with the dual discs.

Am I missing something?

Just buy the skunk.............

Man, you're dead set on me having that skunk!

Here's another technical question:

What were the ergos on a '78 1000 vs an '83 750T? I sat on a '78 1000 the other day and all three of those in attendance were SHOCKED to find that the 1000 actually had quite a bit less leg-room than my 750. Pat (Gravity Tester) who is about my height, was actually cramping up a bit from just sitting on it parked.

STRETCH THEM LEGS. Little yoga.

Since the discs on the 750L wheel I've got are smaller than the single disc on my T's front wheel, I should just need the two fork tubes from bike with the same size discs, the calipers, master cylinder and associated plumbing, correct?

Am I way off? Should I just start a new thread without the b*ll**** in the beginning?
