    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Im leaking a bit of oil

I took off the stator cover to replace the gasket because it was all torn up and leaking some oil. I replaced the gasket, put it all back together and it still leaks oil in the same spot. Its at the bottom and if i take the bolt out then it doesnt leak, but if the bolt is in, it leaks from the head of the bolt. Any ideas on how to make this stop?
 
What you mean is that you were messing around with stuff you shouldn't have been and tore up the gasket. :D

I say put some silicon gasket stuff on the bolt before you thread it in and let it sit over night.

What did you buy for a gasket? If it was Suzuki OEM, it would have come with two strips of black sealant on the engine side of the gasket. The manual makes note of using sealant in these two places- one is centered at about 7 o' clock, the other is at about 3 o' clock. The strips are about 4" long and surround the bolt holes you speak of. My guess is that these spots get the most oil fling off the stator, and therefore require the sealant. Again, the OEM gaskets have it on there already, but the Vesrah gasket kit I got did not any sealant on the stator cover gasket.

I'm a big fan of RTV sealant on gaskets. I'd rather spend an extra 30 minutes cleaning off old RTV whenever I crack a cover than spend 30 minutes 3 times a week scrubbing oil off my motor. I say goop it up, and use a torque wrench to set the cover bolts.
 
Take it back off and make sure EVERY little bit of the old gasket is removed or it will leak
 
Personally I use Hylomar on all my gaskets, it's easy to take off, and you don't have to worry about it getting in your oil. Oh, and it stops leaks too. You can find it around the RTV section, it's a blue goup, that never hardens.
 
I use the grey RTV, but maybe I should use the blue Hylomar instead, I've got a tube at home after all.
