Hi i've just started to put all my wiring back together after stripping my GS850. I made the mistake of not taking pictures of what goes where etc. The bike is unknown to me so i'm not farmiliar with it's electrical history. I've got most parts connected but i'm left with a six wire connector (male) with no where to go? I've looked in the manual and it seems to go to the 'indicator control box'? I can't find this in my box of 'bits taken off'. Should i have one? Is this one of these cancelling thinks that a previous owner may have junked? Any comments would be appreciated

What year 850? Do you have anything left over in your headlight bucket or off of your clocks?

Hi, the wires left in the headlamp (with nowhere to go) appear to be

orange/ green

blue/ red

white

Orange (or red) / Black?

As asked by Cowboyup....WHAT YEAR?

At least in the 79-81 GS850, the self-cancelling turn signal control would be back by the battery, not in the headlight bucket......

EDIT: You said it's a 6-wire connector, but you only listed colors for 4 wires?

Sorry, i should have mentioned that the bike is an '81 however it's a bitsa (apart from frame and cases). The carbs are slide but the clocks have a gear change (no petrol gauge - although the tank has the wiring). It also has slide carbs off an earlier model.

Thanks

The only 6-wire connector that I see on a wiring diagram for my '80 GS850G is indeed for the self-cancelling box (disconnected on mine), but it's back by the battery next to the flasher module, not in the bucket.

Also - you only list 4 wire colors....

What the heck - fire it up and see what doesn't work :D

The control box mounts on the right side of the battery box, but it has a pig tail on it to the connection to the harness, which is actually under the tank. Thats what I remember anyway. I did recently replace the harness on a '81 1000G, and put a new signal control box on it last fall.

Without that box the signals will still flash, only you will have to cancel them manually.
