A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I've heard both view points, I'd like to slide one on my bike just to prevent possible problems, Will it cause more than it will fix? Just wondering. I'm going with a higher end bikers choice model.

You will be adding a THIRD filter to your system, but if you insist on doing it your "higher end bikers choice model" might work.

You already have a filter on the intake of the petcock and there is another filter at each float valve. Can't imagine why you might need a third filter. :o

You want to "prevent problems"? Just keep your tank clean and keep fresh gas in there.

.

If you use one, test it to make sure it flows plenty of fuel. A lot of them don't and have given filters a bad reputation.

inline fuel filters.....yuk!!!

inline fuel filters.....yuk!!!

hi guys on my 1980 gs1000e and alas, on my xs650 babe ,i did fiddle around using different filters..now i just don,t waste my time.. the gs has got a good filter inside the tank and my tank is clean,, the yam is similar tank is clean and carbs are cleaned ...so no no no inline filters spend the money on urgent need to have things liike good tyres ,4-1 systems seals or jets etc... ... must have stuff or upgrade you garage fridge which is a must regards david :):):)

i put an inline filter in at the beginning of ownership because of the condition of the tank. the PO painted it and the vapors got inside the tank and the petcock, gumming it up bad. after getting into the tank a little more, somebody had re-lined the tank and left sand in it to get under the lining. i had it sandblasted inside and out and i started from scratch.

i left the filter inline out of paranoia, but have been thinking about removing because everybody is right, there are two filters in the fuel system already. i don't ride that fast and hard, so i don't think it has affected performance of the floats.
