A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have an 83 gs650 M katana and was wondering which models I could get a gas tank, front master cylinder, and rear shocks from asbi'm having a hard time finding any of these. What about aftermarket shocks, so I need certain ones for a shaft drive?

Thanks!

There are rumors of '81 650 Katanas, but I have only heard of '82 and up. Your gas tank is rather unique, but I think that any 650 Kat will fit.

Master cylinder and shocks can be from any 650. In fact, they are probably similar enough that you can use about anything that fits from 550 to 850, maybe even the 1000.

Nothing special about "shocks for a shaft drive", just need to make sure they have eyes on both ends, not eye/clevis.

.

Cool thanks! There are a number if different ones I found but insure of how many useable parts I would get. Any recommendation on an aftermarket rear shock? Mine seem worn out and squish way down. Could I just replace the shock part and reuse the spring or is it a pain?

How about the Front brake master cylinder? My piston in there is rust welded in and will not come out at all (even tried a torch) so I think I need to find another master cylinder. Is there an aftermarket one I could use that still works the brake switch?

Would this work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Front-Hydraulic-Brake-Master-Cylinder-for-Suzuki-GS750-GS1000-GS1150-GS1100/121121810310?_trksid=p3984.m2048&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D31%26meid%3D8290726966779811068%26pid%3D100022%26prg%3D1023%26rk%3D2%26sd%3D290926707832%26

I don't see why not but I'm no expert either. I put a newer Kawasaki one on mine since I'm also using Kawasaki twinpot calipers; they are working out pretty well so far.
