I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Is there a trick to getting at the carb synch adjuster?

I DID search i swear, but I think there are too many ways to say "sync" or something...

I cannot get ANY tools in there to loosen/tighten the jam nut, I could probably get something in there for the adjuster itself...

Do I have to take off the tank? even then I am not sure I can fit ANY socket on there, its under the choke "J" cable sleeve thing...

Motion Pro

Motion Pro

Motion Pro makes a very cool tool for accessing and adjusting your carb syncs. Do a search on the web and you will find it easily. I can't remember how much I payed but it was around $12, I think. On both of my bikes, the one under the choke "thingy" is also kind of tricky.

Oh, and yeah, you'll need to remove your tank....

Hmm, $36 is the best I can seem to do, maybe I can get by with what I have. Unless it is one of those "you won't beleive how easy it is with this tool" type jobbies?

To sync the carbs you do need to remove the tank and get an alternate fuel source for the carbs. I use a 1/4" socket driver with an extension and a universal with the 8mm? socket. I can get at all of the adjuster nuts with this.

And how do you hold the adjuster in place while you tighten the nut?

The job can be done without the motion pro tool but it's a pain in the ass to do.

I finger tighten the nut while holding the screw. Then, knowing the screw will move when I tighten the nut, I overcompensate the adjustment so that after the nut is tight, it is in the right place. Takes practice but I am pretty good at it now. :D I heard the special tool doesnt fit properly on all the adjuster screws.

OK, "you won't believe how easy it is with this tool", but only in the places that it fits. :o

Seems that about every bike I have had to sync the carbs on, at least one of the adjuster screws was blocked by either the choke linkage or throttle linkage, and this tool needs a rather straight shot at the adjuster. :(

Yes...I wanted to buy a bunch of parts from Bikebandit and found out that the shipping was more money than the parts.

I got my motion pro carb sync tool at my local dealer for 21.00. might want to check your local dealer to see if they have one.

hmm, with my luck so far I would say my ONLY adjuster would be the one it doesnt reach, why put it there? if it faced the other way you could reach from below, but noooo...

Did you take into account currency conversion? If it gets shipped usps, there shouldnt be tax and no duty.
I dont order stuff from places that ship by fedex or ups.

that IS my local dealer, the 36 bux.

the 18+30 is bikebandit, and USD so it is closer to $70 to my door.

and yet to mail a shoe box full of stuff from florida only cost me $5 when it is a private seller

Well, I guess I'll stir the pot a little by saying this..

I think the jamb nuts are not particularly useful. I haven't used them
in a long time and my carbs stay in perfect sync without them.

I found that using the jamb nuts was a pain so I took them off :)

Instead I ~used~ to apply a little blue loctite on the screw after
I got them synced.

But my last carb sync I ran out of loctite. I've been running the bike
for the last 1000 miles with nothing holding the screws locked and
they haven't fallen out of adjustment.

From Boss Tools:
Carb Adjusting Tool

Price and shipping from Boss Tools are usually good, but it seems they don't always have stock. I've got a couple of pit posse items on backorder till next week. These are items I ordered about a month ago.

All the motion pro tools can be ordered from your local bike shop out of the Motovan or Parts Canada catalogs.
