If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

im getting 12.38 on the voltage what do yall think is my stator going bad???

under what conditions? Idling at 1100 rpm?
what si it at 2000 and 5000?

Hi,

The Stator Papers, and Mr. posplayr's amendments, will tell all. Something is not right with your charging system. It's time to troubleshoot.

Thank you for your indulgence,

BassCliff

Might be the stator.

Might be the rectifier/regulator.

Might be the battery.

Might be the connections between the devices.

Might be time to do some troubleshooting. :-\\\

.

yall are the best i got it fixed the ground wire was in bad shape so i ran a new one and fired her up and she is at 13v rev her up and volts get higher yessss now thats what im talking about lol

Still clean all the connections in the system, it will cause expensive failures otherwise.

ok i went for a ride came home and checked voltage and its like 12.3 so i was checking if the wires from the stator had come off and felt the wires and the white/green from the stator gets really hot doesnt sound good plus i felt the r/r and it was hot even with the bike cooled down//// i will take a pick of what i got so yall can see give me a min

Some one already changed to spade connectors. That doesn't mean you don't have a problem. Apparently you do. :(

If any of those connections is getting hot it is bad and I would replace all of the connections (by directly soldering and removing all connectors). Assuming your stator and R/R are still good (if either is bad they probably will not get hot any more) you will probably fix it by doing that.

On the other hand if you ran through the checks in the stator pages and reported the results we could do this intelligently :o

the po left the old one on the bike and put this one on the side of batt box i have pulled it off i have 3 yellow that hook to the stator.. one white/red .. one brown..and one black if i hook the stator wires up and check the white/red im getting 16v also getting the same reading from the black ? but if i hook the white/red to the red wire on the bike i get 12.33v take it off and i will get a 16v reading??

OK now I see that is what looks liek a Honda 6 wire. The three stator wires are all interchangeable. You need to get straight what the other three are.

one is a ground.

One goes to power "T" (between R/R and battery +)

the other is a sense wire which goes to a switched source. Look for teh color Honda R/R connction picture that Basscliff has posted in teh past and see if it matches.

ok so i was just wondering and pulled my stator cover off and there was a wire pinched in between motor and the cover but wasnt the wire that was hot but i dont know im sure that was a problem .. so i went and got some solder and some shrink i hope it fixes it the part that sucks is that its like a 1/4 -3/8in just past the rubber that keeps the oil from leaking out so wish me luck

so i got everything back together and checked out volts im getting allmost 14v i guess that was it lol . but i hope the shrink wrap and the solder will hold up with the heat of the motor ? anyone know
