    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi Guys,
I just went out to have a look at a 1984 GS1150E with 26000km. This bike is pictured below but does not come with the Japanese guy as far as I know. Anyway, here's the dirt on the bike. He started out at 1500$ CDN, I offered 1000$CDN, and then he gave me the lowest he would take (sorry, that's between me and him) but I am not sure if it is a good buy or not. As it sits it needs a battery, a back tire, and fork seals for a safety.

The bad news is that he had an intake camshaft holder loosen off and the camshaft bent! The minimum work to fix this is to get a new holder and shaft but the head may be damaged as well. But who knows, the head may be finished too. Other than that there are some scratches through the paint on the tale piece and it has a cracked instrument panel from being pushed over by a car.

There are a few mods on the bike too which affect fuel economy. Right now he is getting 200km from 14 litres highway and 100km for 14 litres in the city. What he has had done was put GSXR (1100?) carbs on it, a V&H exhaust with 4 into 1, dual K&N filters, and he changed a capacitor in the CDI to advance the timing. Cosmetic changes include a square headlight (yes, I know, bikes with round headlights are far superior) and tiny little signal flashers.

Oh yeah, could a GS750 engine be put into this thing if it needs a new head? :oops: :oops:

Sorry for the lengthy post, what do you guys think about the bike? Is it worth what he is asking for it?

Don't know the Canadian to U.S. exchange rate but if you could get everything repaired and keep your cost under $2000 U.S. total, I think it would be a fair deal.

Has it been down besides the car push? The side engine covers should be black like the rest of the engine, or did he do that for cosmetic reasons?

I looked at the bike in the dark with a flashlight so I'm not too sure. The covers did have marks on them but not deep ones. I will go see the bike during the day if I decide to buy it and then I'll settle up the price at that point.

In US terms the bike is going for about 800$ and it has 16250 miles on it.

Oh yeah, he was willing to start the bike up for me (not a good idea to me) but the battery was dead. He did say that it runs but the wobbling camshaft makes a bad noise... I sure would like to get this bike since it puts out 130HP and is supposed to be close to even with an R1 on the 1 block dash.

I've decided to pass on the bike because I would have ended up putting a fairing on it and getting a stock exhaust. Basically, I should just buy the bike I want rather than make it. Fit and finish was not too good on this bike either but it would be a great bike to race. It has heavy duty clutch springs too as I found out today.

I'd buy it if I were you, but I'm not you. Winter is coming, project time, buy a new head from dragracing.com or this site to compliment the mods already made. Maybe a new cam chain. A tear down is in order then. learn about the inner workings of a very modifiable motor.

Or not and just by the bike you want, eventhough they have same everything, except the plastic and 30 more pounds. I'm not sure what that is in Kilos. Silly American.
