A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Personally, I like it the way it is (always did), but let's not start that one up again. LOL

Question.

Question.

Can anyone tell me how to do that to the seat? I've seen setups similar to that and wanted to do it to mine. It's an old beater bike ('82 , but I'm having fun screwing around with it trying to get it to run better (or run at all really) and have stripped the tank to get rid of all the rust. I'd like to remove rear fender and put the shorter seat on it with a new breaklight and turn signals. Can anyone help me with this as far as how to do it/where to get what I need?

Yeah, I'm calling 'BULL!' on that $800 with almost five days left to go. That bike is just not that much of a value for that price. Seems things might be artificially inflated here...

"The tires are in good shape with tons of tread left. You won't have to change them for years."

Obviously he doesn't ride like I do, if a set of tires last me a year I make sure to write all the info down so I can get another set of them. Then they turn out to be discontinued. Such is life.....

So .... isaacs bike w/ fender (it had been an inspiration)

Fabric was stretched over a new pan and SUPER-GLUED in place underneath. another piece of fabric was then cut and glued to the pan bottom to tie together all the edges . Rails were added to give a little height for a better fit. the super glue does not work well with fabric to alum but does a heckofa job when glueing fabric to fabric. really tight.

And still more pics

Again the sporty pan had too many bumps and while i could have just attached it stock to a flat plate and mounted that to the frame but, i had to do a little contouring to the foam anyway. The 1/4 thick alum pan is basically flat with the front and back bent upwards a bit courtesy of a 20 ton press. Easy stuff.

I almost forgot, heres the old seat, Nice contours but NOT very comfy.

BOPI I CANT BELIEVE HOW GOOD YOUR BIKE LOOKS NOW.i REMEMBER HOW ROUGH IT WAS IN THE BEGINNING.

Thanks Ron,

Isaacs bike certainly had potential but he didn't seem to want to pay too much attention to details. His tank badges weren't filled in among other things and he seemed in a big rush to complete whatever it was he was going for.

After the fender he changed direction and apparently never completed that project. Too much work maybe.

My 78 is comming along although i do ride it almost daily. Maybe some handlebars but perhaps further down the road i'll go with a full blown hardtail bobber. Dream on. I'll need two bikes for that to get started.

fortunately you haven't seen me on the tech page since the gs is running like a champ.

AMEN to that brother!!! Since i got my gs 1000 rebuilt I am riding instead of begging frantically for advice on how to do something. Now I can spend time in the appearance mods section.

I always liked his bike.

Apparently he got big into Honda Hawks and dropped GS's for the most part. Too bad.

Wow, I haven't been here for months and I came back because I got a few PMs from people who said. "I don't care what other people say, I think your bike looks awesome." For those who supported me and the bike project, thanks. Its refreshing to see some interest in modifications here that go beyond attaching saddlebags or fabbing Wes Cooley replicas.

Ron Bayless, you're a major league @sshole. I was really enthusiastic when I joined this site, but people like you are one of the reasons I haven't been back here in so long. It might seem crazy but the constant insults made me feel like not sticking around. With an attitude like that you'd think you secretly own a Harley.

A running bike's value doesn't suddenly drop to $100 just because Ron Bayless thinks it "looks stupid", and considers gaskets and carb work on an otherwise good functioning bike "lots of repairs".

For the record, the price hasn't been "artificially inflated". I'm just hoping the two people who bid on it were planning on paying. If the winning bidder ****s a brick if the pictures don't turn out to be worth a thousand words, who knows, I might even bargain.

Isaac, I liked both versions of the bike and I'm not crazy about G models. The fenderless version is reminiscent of the Kawasaki Eliminator. With the fender it looks a little Brit. Nice imagination and application.

I think it’s sweet. As someone without the time or talents to get very experimental with a bike, I love looking at what folks are able to do with a little ingenuity.

It's probably not what I would do, but I like it.
