    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I want to thank all of you here at gs for helping me finish my bike! I've been working on it for mooooonths and today I finished it...other then painting. My last problem was it only running on one cylinder. And only doing that at full throttle up until it was about out of gas then it'd run fine. I've had this problem along with others yet I'd fix everything else and this was still an issue. Well I want the first person to take off these carbs and unfortunately I've never worked on a 30 year old bike before. So after about 8 months of fixing everything but this problem, I finally was helped by "chuck hahn". The problem was simply the pilot jet plugs! He took the time to read over my thread a few times then said wait! I want to personally thank him and also everyone else that has helped me figure this bike out!

Yes I have. I had an 90 fzr1000 but this thing is way faster then I thought it'd be. Hopefully tomorrow ill get my tag and finish painting my gas tank.
 
It sure feels good to bring them back from the dead and enjoy riding them doesn't it? ;)

Ride it for a few weeks or a month and that should shake the rings plenty to reseat them. Then get her good and warm and do a compression check. Oh and dont smile so much when you ride..keeps the bugs out of your teeth!!!
 
Lol yes it does but ill wear a full face helmet to stop the bugs lol.I drove her to drill this past weekend 120 miles round trip and she did great except she blew a fuse and shut off instently. I got to looking and the r/w g/w and red wires got really hot and turned color going from the stator to the rectifier. I was driving 65 70 when it happen. On the way back I replaced the fuse and took a back road goin about 50mph and she was fine. Nothing blew out or melted. I'm guessing she was putting out to much at high RPM? I'ma reposting this question here shortly.
 
Get a meter and check the voltage AT the battery..directly to the terminals while its idling and then run her up to about 5G and see what that reading is too.
 
The main fuse can blow from under-charging. If the R/R is providing nothing, then the bike must draw all of its current from the battery, and the main fuse is not necessarily sized to do that for long. See on the wiring diagram that the main fuse is between the R/R and battery.

If nothing else, a full harness connector cleaning is in order.
