    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I feel like I am now in the club. Finally got my bike running good and took a short ride on Sunday afternoon/evening. And saw another bike coming towards me, then it happened... I got "the wave." The universal greeting among motorcycle riders. I had been waiting for that. I dropped my left hand below the handle bar, and bent my wrist up in acknowledgement. It's like the secret handshake. ;)

As I said, I have been waiting for this. The trouble is, with so many bikes on the road Sunday, I got tired of having to do this. Once when waiting to turn left and my left hand holding the clutch handle, three bikes went by and gave me "the wave." What do I do now?! I couldn't just let go of the clutch handle. I waved with my right hand, but it didn't feel right. :-s Oh well, biker-to-biker... it is still cool :cool:. I wonder when this started. Wish my Dad were still alive so I could ask him if they did this back in the late 40s and 50's when he'd put 10-15,000 miles per year on his Harley (no Freeways then).

Do they do this in Australia, NZ, the UK, Scandanavia, or Italy? How about in South Africa? Any way, it is now official. I'm a biker.
 
Canadians do wave too.I had my first wave back in 1978 and it never stop.I'll ask my father next time i see him. He was riding in the 50's.:dancing:
 
Ah yes, the head nod. I got that from a couple of guys on modern street fighter bikes that pulled up beside me at a light. I smoked them off the line.

Oh yeah!

Did I mention that they were turning left? And I put Sea Foam in my gas tank so I pretty much smoked everybody. (Dang it! I can't find the tongue-in-cheek smiley face)
 
If you are busy riding the nod is a fine acknowledgement of a wave.Sometimes retuning it is just not possible so don't worry that much about.It is one of the coolest parts of riding in my books.

PS: You may find that The term "biker" has somewhat differnt meanings to some folks than it does to others.
