    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I purchased a jet kit online and i am curious as too the actual results that can be gained with these kits was the investment worth the risk ?
 
The results will depend on your own circumstances.

If you have installed pod filters and an aftermarket pipe, a PROPER jet kit is not only beneficial, it's MANDATORY.

Without the kit, not only will it not run well, it won't run very long.
The mixture will be lean, which burns hotter.
The engine will soon suffer, sometimes catastrophically. :eek:

What jet kit did you purchase and what bike do you own?
My Grandma live in Harrisburg.

I drilled large holes in the air box and cut a big slot for more air the factory under the seat area was looking rather restrictive . I added 7 mm wires as well as a jet kit by sigma 107 main 105 secondary jets and a k and n filter to match the vance hines four into one

Hi Mr. Outlaw86gses,

About the best way to tell if your bike is jetted properly is to perform what are called "plug chops" and read the spark plugs for color and detonation characteristics. There is a rudimentary guide on my website along with other information in the carb sections ("How to read your spark plugs", etc).

I've been saying it a lot lately so I might as well mention it to you, too. You have a 30 year old motorcycle that probably needs 20 years worth of maintenance. If you do all of the required maintenance properly, you and your bike will be insanely happy. Now let's roll up our sleeves and get started.

86 550 Ray - he stuck it in the title. MUCH better to stick it in your signature though.

Personally I wouldn't start chopping things up on one of them - those Siamese carbs are a bit of an oddity and parts won't be easy to come by I suspect.
