Yes, a dynojet stage III kit. I'm serious.

The DJ stage 3 jet kit isn't designed for use with a stock exhaust. Neither is their stage 2. Same for K&N jet kits. So if you use one it will run richer than intended. It may still work, but it could cause difficulty/poor results.
I'd get a good pipe first to compliment those K&N's. Then a stage 3 kit.
Otherwise, check other makers kits, or you can try seperate mains, shimming the jet needles, etc, if you insist on the stock exhaust.
I prefer the kits.

I have an 82 GS1100e with K&N individual filters, a Dynojet kit and a V&H supersport exhaust. I have the DJ needles on the fifth notch from the top and NOW have the DJ132 main jets in. The kit comes with DJ138's and DJ132's main jets for using an after market pipe. In the spring and fall when it is cool and the air is dense the DJ138's feel pretty good. I just this weekend put the DJ132's in and the bike pulls better than with the DJ138's in the current 80 deg weather. I also increased my pilot jets from the stock #45 to #50's. Now the bike starts on 1/2 choke and warms up to no choke in about 2-3 minutes.

how does the bike run right now?
my 750 was stock exhaust with filterpods and ran terrible at expressway speeds. my top speed was maybe 120kph...

i didnt know anything about carbs then so i put the stock airbox back in. bike ran great.
in retrospect, i probably should have gone one or 2 sizes up on the main jets and that might have done the job.
if your bike runs like mine did, try that...
(if your needles are adjustable (i dunno about the stock carbs, i use gsxr flingflops on my 1150), try raising them one notch if you get midrange problems.

if your needles aren't adjustable, maybe you can put some sort of washer in the slide under where the needle sits to raise it a bit, that'll enrichen the mixture at intermediate throttle openings.

I am not a fan of Dynojet kits... I recommend you go up two sizes on the main jet (they are in 2.5 increments) and one size on the pilot jet. If you have a flat spot off idle, adjust the mixture screws and you may need to use shims under the jet needle. You can buy Mikuni 3mm shims for Mikuni CV carbs (I hope this is what you have). Contact www.z1enterprises.com for the jets / shims. This stuff will cost about $3 a jet and about $3 for a pack of shims so is far less expensive than a "jet kit" and addresses rejetting the pilot circuit on your carbs which is necessary in light of the leaner condition caused by the K&N pods.

This is very true. I bought a Dynojet stage 3 kit for my bike back when I just had pods and the stock exhaust and the 120 & 122.5 jets they give you will be WAY too rich for the stock exhaust.

I wound up using 115 main jets and kept those when I went to my MAC 4-into-1 exhaust since they flow just a little more than stock with the original baffle. The racing baffle would use the 120 main jets.
