A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Joe's Bike

Um, who is Joe? What did I miss? Where did that BEAUTIFUL bike come from (please don't say Joe)?

There MUST be a great story behind this whole thing...

Here's the ebay listing.

I just had an old Ford Station Wagon trailered from Missou to Orlando and they messed up the hood on the trip. My friend who sold it to me handled all the shipping dealings and took pictures before it left. They wanted me to pay on arrival but after seeing the damage I told them to stick it. My friend is dealing with the fallout now. This is the first time I ever had a vehicle shipped to me, thought it would enclosed or at least covered securely but that didn't happen. That's a thread for another day. That's a nice looking bike you have there!

Ok, I remember jwhellen. Did something happen to him? Or was he just leaning out his herd?

this is what I worry about with eventually getting my ratrod project back to me from my dad's house in Colorado. with recent events, it'll be a few more years before the abomination is back in my garage, but worrisome none the less, since the windshield alone is a $600 piece of glass last time I price checked it.

but it's great to see that Joe's bike stayed on the boards.

Cars are hardly ever enclosed or covered when being transported, unless you arrange that with the shipper. Wasn't the shipper insured?

Yeah, I suppose that is for another thread...

Did something happen with Joe or why did he let this bike go for this price?

The Ebay description is pretty light on the details, probably would have benefited from a better written, detailed listing.

Looks like he has two more bikes for sale now on Ebay but learned his lesson and has them for buy it now or "make offer", not auctions

Yes, I realize that now about being covered. Yes, shipper is insured and that's being worked out now. I need to take the wagon to a body shop and have it estimated. A strap that was between two pieces of metal came loose and the metal u shaped hook swung back and forth a spot on the hood down to bare metal. The car is not restored or anything so we will see what the accessed damage is. Driver did not want to take the car off the trailer until I paid but I said no and he relented.

I can't tell you how happy I am that someone from the board (Rich) got this bike. I actually lost both of my bikes in a business deal that went bad back in July. It was in my best interest to let the bikes go in lieu of a much greater loss. My ex-business partner chose to cash out of this one shortly after we dissolved our partnership. The departure left me in a financial pickle or I would have snagged it from eBay myself. The 700 is a fabulous bike it runs like a champ I will greatly miss the snotty sound of that Vance and Hines pipe!
Enjoy Rich!

Wow Joe. What a sucky story. Sorry to hear about your loss and hope you get back into the GS game real soon.
