    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Just bought another junker

Hasn't ran in GOD knows when, broken rear sets, high mileage, torn seat, missing side covers and factory exhaust, stupid anti-dive block off plates, Bandit carbs, etc.
What's it worth?

I bet you got a deal on her. I like the 140 gauges and am curious about the 4-1 pipe and bandit carbs.

That's worth about $300 if I'm looking at it to buy.

Many of the parts on it are so corroded and oxidized that they would take a lot of labor to make them saleable.

It is worth at the very least $500 if the motor turns over. It is worth $700 if the pipes are not crushed.

Too far gone for my liking............. However, you may have a nice stainless Supertrapp exhaust there!

I just figured out what that is. The '83 1100e with the faster red paint - am I correct?

Very desirable model.

I was thinking the same thing. If the pipes good I'm betting cleaned up a bit it will be worth more than you paid.If you part it out I'd like to make a deal for the Koni shocks.

Finally dragged the disaster home this evening. Tomorrow I will unload it and see what I am in for.

After three baths involving a quart of Awesum cleaner, a can of regular GUNK engine cleaner and a quart of straight Zep degreaser followed with plenty of high pressure air from my favorite tool (air compressor),
I have found a few good things and several problem areas that need to be addressed...

Worthless air breather filter that ONLY a bike REQUIRING a rebuild needs and Dyna ign.

More later today...

I know we have all heard the term "That will buff right out" but I never would have thought that it was true!

LOL! Now back to work...

That pipe looks like it is worth the better part of the bike's value.

After removing those parts that were just for effect, I got back to the discovery mode.

Kwiro has some competition with this worn out C/S sprocket.

Continued... (pic limit)

About that Stainless Steel Supertrapp system, it appears that some kind of vermin liked it a little too.

I have never seen one of these on one of these old scooter exhaust systems before. Was '83 the first year for this crap?

With the overall general condition of this bike, I was surprised to ONLY find oil in the crankcase.

That is about it for today's progress.

Followin along on another transformation, good luck with the project
