A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hello, Anyone can help me find owners manual for 79 GS1000S? Also what are original spark plugs, Brand and number. Thanks:)
email me and ask about my bike. I'm like a new dad with this thing. It's a museum piece so if there are any shows or meets feel free to let me know.

I think Suzuki provided the regular GS1000 Owners Manual with the 1000S bikes in the USA. I've never seen or heard of a dedicated 1000S owners manual.

Zav,

Welcome to GSR.

THanks for introducing yourself.

Do post some pics of this museum piece. Would be interested to see pics even if it was not a museum piece, but that description generates even more interest.

Do describe "multiple locations". Maybe other GSR members nearby.

Can search "VJMC" if are looking for vintage bike shows.

Yes its the regular GS 1000 manuals as far as I have ever found. The service manual has a supplimental section in the back which addresses anything the S has. But its really just a GS 1000 with a fairing and 2 tone paint in the scheme of things.

Look for GSR member basscliff, he has a lot of manuals on his site. The "S" supplement is the only owners manual I've seen. The GS1000 Suzuki repair manual covers all versions.

Bingo! That is it. 25 years of regret I sold my GS1000S have been remedied. Not sure if overpriced but I'm a happy son of a bitch. I wouldn't sell it for double what I paid.

Beautiful bike. I watched the auction and figured it would set a record. It is really hard to believe that it is not a restored bike.

Congratulations!

Very nice bike and lovely to see all the original case screws unchanged and unmangled.

I bought my 1000ST new in 1981 as a leftover from the 1980 model year. I paid $3200 OTD for it. It came with a standard GS1000 owner's manual and a 1000ST supplementary manual. I have both of them in a Ziplock bag.

1000E has 17" rear wheel, 1000S has an 18" rear wheel. The fork valving was slightly different too. They had an oil temp gauge, clock, and fuel gauge "Combo Meter". The 1980 models had factory rear set pegs/controls, different pipes and a completely different seat. So the difference was more than just a fairing and fancy paint job.
