I just did the valves on my '82 GS750. I bought it with 6300 miles last June and now it has 10,700.
The process went very smoothly. All of the valves were within spec and the valve cover gasket was in good enough shape to re use.
This engine was designed to give you access.
While we were removing the tank my friend noticed that the vacuum tube to the petcock was cracked. We cut off the end and now my hard starting issue is cleared up. It started up without using the prime.
