DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have been working on a kz 650 and its only firning on 2 cylinders but i beleive it is a ignition problem because i can switch the leads to the points and it will fire on different cylinders. What would cause one side of the points not to fire. thanks

Well, the obvious question: are the points actually opening? The block can wear out to the point where they won't open the points. Next stop would be the condenser. You'll need to get a manual and a multimeter (or just replace it). Don't know this machine, but I'm assuming there are two sets of points/condensers. If not, disregard this post.

Yes it is just like the gs. I thought that would be the problem i just wanted a 2nd opinion. I did put my gs points on the bike, i thought they were still good but no luck on getting a spark out of the other two cylinders. I had to hot wire the bike, there isnt 2 wires that hook up the the switch that would make one coil not fire is there? thanks

I do have paypal I may have a cover laying around do you need both sides or just one of them where are you located at so I can figure up the shipping. You get that thing running right you will love it. I have had my 650 several years. It is a blast to ride and people have got out of their cars at traffic lights to check it out I run Antique tags on it.you can pm me your address so we can try to get this old Kaw firing off all four. You got a stael at $50.00 I was offered $800.00 for mine I told them Nah it don't eat much and it would be like selling one of my children lol

Make sure you check for 12v to both sets of points. One of my bikes had a break in one of the hot wires. The symptoms were exactly what you described.

I loosened the hot wires that attach to each set of points. turned on the ignition & removed & replaced each wire. You should see a small spark. If not, time to check the wires!
