    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Kill switch almost works

When I bought my bike the kill switch didn't work. When I checked the PO had twisted the switch wires together. When I soldered them back to the switch it didn't works at all, the bike wouldn't start. I had another switch that I put in and now the bike starts in the run setting and won't start in the off setting. Now the kill switch will stop the bike from starting, but won't kill it once it's running. Any thoughts on what I could check? A problem with the start disconnect switch maybe?

Or you could just use a jumper wire across the leads in the harness that feed the kill switch make sure you get proper operation without the switch. Jumper and the bike will start, remove and it kills the bike.

Assuming that works the switch is screwed up some how and probably needs a replacement.

Get a wiring schematic and check where the kill switch leads to. Use
a DVM to check for continuity in this circuit area. Easy to check for
the switch condition and for the circuit path to disable engine ignition
circuit.

On mine, the kill switch provides power to the starter button and also the coils and ignitor.
It sounds like the prior owner seperately powered the coils and ignitor before he twisted the kill switch wires together.

If theres an orange and white wire leading to the coil primaries and the ignitor, check and see where it's getting its power... it should be the from the kill switch.
 
If you look at a wiring diagram, you will see that there are three wires that are connected to two terminals on the kill switch. One wire provides power, the two on the other side take that power to the starter switch and to the coils. Evidently, one of the wires is in the wrong place.
