I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Hi all,

I'm trying to determine if the kill switch mod, reccomended for so many earlier model GS bikes is recommended/possible on my 1150. All the writeup I've found for this mod is for earlier models and the 1150 wiring is a bit different. I can manage to wire stuff up when I've got instructions but once the wires stop looking like the pictures, I'm in trouble. :-)

thanks,

Can you post a link to this kill switch mod. I had a heck of a time with the last GS I owned (80 GS1000GL) kill switch... ended up just buying a replacement right handlebar switch as I couldn't get contact well enough to be reliable in the old one.

He is installing an SSPB which has similar mods to the coil relay mod. There are no actual changes to thd switch. Most times it is just cuts snd jumpers at the right hand switch connector

I am strictly guessing here, but I get the impression that he might be asking about a mod that helps prevent kick-back when starting the bigger bikes (1000-1150).

If that is the mod I am thinking of, you would re-wire the kill switch so that you could still spin the starter, but the coils would not activate until you flipped the kill switch ON. That would get some inertia into the crank so it would not kick back when the plugs fired at low (cranking) speed.

Evidently posplayr knows what is going on in this case and it's under control, but if that is the mod you are asking about, let me know.

Not sure I understood the need for that type mod and sure don't know what an SSPB is. Well anyway, thanks
