So I needed a leather jacket before they would let me drag race. I could wear a dress leather jacket with no protection, but an armored textile jacket won't fly. That said, I looked around and found a new $250 2-piece leather suit on Amazon. Pretty well made, then I put them on. Fat was oozing out of every opening, they fit snugly but OK once I finally wiggle in to them. I am not sure how I could ride in these. Range of motion is extremely limited, not sure I could swing a leg over the bike. Hot, sweaty, harder to get out of than in to. Is this normal, or do I need to send them back and get something else? Never had a set on before, do they break in? Or just suck it up and lose 20 pounds?

Can't do that before the next test and tune July 8th. But I don't need the pants until I hit the 10's, not much chance of that until the 40 pounds are gone :)

they can be tailored, $$
but really, your belly is too big, you have to lose weight eat less exercise more. but you already know that.
on the bright side, if you get the right helmet you will look like Michael Dunlop

They didn't have a checkbox for "extra fat" I did find some suggestions that the suit should be slightly uncomfortable at the beginning, and will loosen up in time so if I switch from beer to Scotch I should be fine :)

"You want your suit to fit as snug as possible, even to the point of being a little constraining. At Motostrano we preach that your new leather suit should at first be border-line uncomfortable when you first try it on. A new suit will give a half a size to a size after a few times of using the suit. Leather gives to an extent to form to the rider''s shape and size. First time suit buyers are typically lost when it comes to trying on suits because they want the suit to fit perfectly the moment they try it on. A good fitting suit should be very snug on the few times of use. A perfectly fitting suit has few creases, baggy points and folds, yet is just snug enough to be a little tight on the rider. You shouldn''t be able to grab a hand full of leather easily and bunch it up in your hand if the suit is fitting well. The suit should fit as well as possible, like a second skin, tight to your body. Most first time suit owners try on a suit and want the knee protection and sliders to be up on their knees. Knee armor should stop at about the middle of your knee cap. Knee, elbow and shoulder amour shouldn't be loose on you. The other point that first-time suit owners often overlook is that your suit is designed to fit you best when riding the bike. You''re not going to use your suit to go out on a date and although showing up at your favorite rider gathering area and posing in a full race suit looks cool, that''s not what a well made suit is designed for and we hope that''s not playing in your purchasing decision. A race suit is designed to be in the riding position, leaned over and aggressively positioned. It's designed to fit the rider comfortably while riding the bike.We speak with folks all the time who get the suit on and complain they can''t raise their arms over their head. Ok- great! you''re not going to want your arms flailing over you head if you get off the bike- you''ll want some restriction there. When considering the features of a suit, you''ll realize quick that the higher cost suits offer the most advanced features. If you can''t spring for the big buck suit, you can still get a quality protective suit that fits, without having to settle for a low end suit that will come part on you while riding, or just plain be uncomfortable while riding."

I don't see the problem Bob, neither will you doing 130 down the track. Good for you!

Congratulations on the very quick weight loss the leather company are that impressed you are the new poster boy.
good luck with the racing.:unconscious:

At least now you're thinking about it correctly.

Bob,

These suite look like a good deal to me. If my wallet were thicker, I'd be buying one. I can't believe the price! I'd PM Todd or Martin for their advice as they both have had or wear leather suites. The Scotch thing works ( for the most part) and a wee bit of "tank armor" on a jacket never hurt anyone. ( you guys are brutal! :() Most of these people are going to be seeing the rear....of your bike anyway......:onthego:

Leathers look great Bob! Glad you are going racing too! Looking forward to the reports...
Cheers,
:)

I've never used a 2 piece, but a one-piece is always a chore to get in and out of. They're also stiff, awkward and uncomfortable to walk in. The only time they're right is when you're on the bike. All that said, I wouldn't expect too much for $250. Decent suits start at 3-4 times that.

Trev,
We never got that drag race going at John Day, come down and we can go to the strip. I am going to a test-and-tune day June 8. I am going to do this next month: https://www.2-fast.org/istore/Aug26-PS-2016.html
Come on down! Bring Rob... I am about 10 minutes from the track. The best money I can spend on my bike is learning to ride it. Then we can do the Ridge.

BTW, I spent the day riding around in the suit, it is fine (but hot) on the bike. Loosened up quite a bit by the end of the day. It will be fine for 11 seconds at a time. I also stopped by the Yamaha dealer and drooled over the FZ09s and the Triumph Speed Triple. Might be time for one modern bike.

Well, a little poetry:
Eldorado
By Edgar Allan Poe

Gaily bedight,

A gallant knight,

In sunshine and in shadow,

Had journeyed long,

Singing a song,

In search of Eldorado.

But he grew old?

This knight so bold?

And o?er his heart a shadow?

Fell as he found

No spot of ground

That looked like Eldorado.

And, as his strength

Failed him at length,

He met a pilgrim shadow?

?Shadow,? said he,

?Where can it be?

This land of Eldorado??

?Over the Mountains

Of the Moon,

Down the Valley of the Shadow,

Ride, boldly ride,?

The shade replied,?

?If you seek for Eldorado!?

Bob, looks like that ain't perforated leather, bummer. I hope it's got ventilation cuts.
Buy yourself some biker leotards, sure help wick away the sweat and make it EZ to get the damn jacket off!
I use a 2 piece perforated suit, fabulous being able to just get the damn jacket off between track sessions!
Die young Baby!!!

I will post my pathetic time slip when it is over. It's been a while since I did this on a bike, hopefully it's like riding a bicycle. Last time out in my car I had a .001 reaction time. But I also had a .437...

Usually on a T&T night you can get quite a few runs in. Think I'll take the '83, it is the most sorted...

It is perforated on the white parts. Like I told the (ex) wife...."The last 26 years were yours. The remaining years are mine". Live hard, die young, leave a good looking corpse. Well, 2 out of 3 anyway.
