I am going to re-vamp my blinkers this winter on the 650E. There are some nice LED type on ebay. I have looked around the forums and found a PDF that somewhat explains what is needed for these type of bulbs.

My bike does not have an automatic release, I have to manually turn off the blinkers. Will I just need to get a different type fuse and that is all? I am trying to keep it as simple as possible.

No need to change the fuse, but you WILL need to change the flasher.

Does your bike have a single indicator in the istrument panel or separate indicators for each side?
If you have a single indicator, you will need to make more modifications.

.

Thanks for the replies!

Steve - I have two turn signal lights on my cluster, L and R. I looked at the referenced link GS(X) 400, but have a hard time following still. I am an even more complete newbie at reading electric schematics than repairing motorcycles!

So, do I need just a new flasher and diode's or just a new flasher? Seems like a lot of work for some simple LED replacements...

For some reason, I can't open the link that was referenced, so I don't know what's in there.

If you have separate indicator lights in your cluster, all you will need is a new flasher.

Please note, though, that most of the flashers that handle LED signals are three-pin units.
You will need to add a seperate ground wire to the third pin.

Fair enough. Without doing a load of research, do you know if I just need a specific type of flasher?

In my post i link to a 2 pin flasher thats universal for motorcycles. I have used it before and its only like 8 bucks

If you are completely replacing the units, not just putting in LED bulbs, let me know I may want to buy them from you. Shoot me a PM.

GateKeeper -

I just bought a flasher from the link you provided. Thanks.

I am heading home soon to examine the current flasher. I may have a few questions about wiring when it comes to the time.

Thanks!

hope you got the one that 2 for the price of one, I missed that, but what the hey, I doubt I will ever need another.

as for wiring, I just plugged the flasher in until I got it to work, but to use the stock wire clip I did have to swap two of the wires, see first link I posted....after that the lights went blink, blink.....

ohhhh it will be a wait for that flasher, I think the guy walked it from China to my place....LOL

If I turn my key to on and turn the left signal on it will click over once or twice then stop. Is that normal?

Just a random question while I remembered it lol

Nope, as far as I know....mine blink until I move the switch back to neutral position

does it do the same if you turn the right blinker on ?

Is the bike running?

What is the battery voltage?

Some flashers do not like to work if the voltage is a bit low.

.

Bike is not running - off.

I will try the right blinker today. The voltage was a little low when a friend of mine tested it last year.

Right blinker works with the bike off. Left will blink 3 times then stop...hmm.

I just received the module, you are right GateKeeper, it does take a while to receive the part. Almost a whole month...

Anyway, I checked my current module and it appears to have a connector with only two prongs on it. I see this new one has three prongs.

Which prongs do I plug the connection into on the new one?

I hope this makes sense.

Also - I have never wired turn signals before, can I pick up some LED signals from ebay and just wire then straight up? Or will I need to do some modifications?
