    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hi everybody
I have finished my radical clean up, repaint, rebuild and I wanna ride but she will not catch fire and go. I used my digital cam to record a little audio/video and I linked it to my work website so you experts GS'ers could tell me what it sounds like to you. It is just 1.22 MB in size.

Here is the link: http://www.vnementor.com/gsstartup.wmv

Friends, please listen and respond if you have any thoughts. What does it sound like to you? What does she need? Gas? Spark? A kick in the butt?:)

FYI, this startup attempt is being done crossing the poles on my crapped-out solenoid (starter relay), which I am replacing later today.

Any help will be MUCH appreciated - as always!
Steve

Well, at least your battery is good. After trying to start it pull a plug and see if it's wet with gas. If it is check the plug for spark by putting it in its lead and grounding it out to the head.

haha what was that spark at the very start of the video near the top of the battery?

That is the sound of a bike not getting any spark.
I heard mine exactly the same last week. I had forgotten to connect the ignitor back (a green wire if I remember right)

u jumping the solinoild make sure u have the key turned on and the on off switch on

Had the same sound with my GS1000 without fuel and spark.

Check the basic's. Sparks on all 4 pots. Check that fuel is getting through.
After that its down to compression problems or timing.

From one Steve to another, what she needs is a warmer climate and a longer riding season.
I can be there later this weekend to take her off your hands for you.

Just a thought. Is your system primed yet? It seems to take a bit for rfuel to get to the bowls if they are dry from a rebuild. at least that was my experience.

Key on?
Run on?
Choke?
Fuel?
Petcock to prime?
Gas in carb bowls?
Plugs wet?
Spark at plugs?
Solid state ignition or points and condensor?
