    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Shorten a set of 1982 forks. I have a project bike Im turning into a cruiser/bobber/chopper/whatever is cool this week term. Its a budget build but that doesnt mean Im looking for the easy way as much as the correct way to lower a set. Ive seen how a builder did his on an XS650 and from his photo compared to my service manual, it looks different. The 2 main reasons Im lowering the front is due to the 21" front wheel. Ive already raked the front as much as I plan to, 41*. Just want to keep the bike level and looking like it was redesign the correct way.

Oh and if all you have is a link to someone who knew someone with a link to a tutoral, Im good with that. Even though I went to public school, I can read and enjoy it. :D

Good thing that Ray can tell you, because I was going to say that it would be a problem. :o

Having a larger wheel in the forks already puts the tire an inch closer to the triple trees, and you want to lower the bike and make it even closer? :eek:
Like I said, good thing Ray has an idea.

put a spacer under the inner lower dampening rod. may have to cut the spring but you need to maintain a inch or two positive spring length above the tube end

terribly simple.
 
Sorry Ray I didnt get to call. Been busy a.k.a. distracted. Ill have to make that call at a later date, work related issues have put the build on hold. But once again, thank you for the reply.
