    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

lost a part of my carb.

So I was taking my carbs apart so I could find out the size of the pilot jets to up them and I either lost a rubber washer or a PO did. I'm not sure how important it is or what it does. It's of a mikuni BS34ss carb from my GS11ooEX. There is no name for it in my clymer manual. Can anyone help me out? Do I need it? What is it for? What is it called?

I'm pointing at one from another carb with my screw driver here

Its a rubber washer that holds the plug into the throats..just use an oring that fits inside and is just slightly proud of the carb body surface.
 
Well..that the proper term. If something stick above a flush surface a little it is known as being "proud". If it sits bellow its known as recessed.
 
perfect will do! Glad you replied before I ordered one and spent $7 on shipping only to wait a week to get one. Weather is too nice this weekend not to ride. Why is there a plug in the throat there? On other versions of this carb is there another jet there or something?

No jet, it's just a plug. I think it's used for something in manufacturing the carb.

I do know if that aluminum plug falls out, it's like having a 1/4 inch diameter main jet, the bike runs only on the other three cylinders, it smokes like a Vega on two stroke oil, and some poor unknowing owner then sells me a nice tight GS1000E needing one carburetor plug for $300. :-\\\

Dude. It blew a ring! Give me $300!

Tom is correct. They drill a hole there for making access to drill the port and then plug it with that disc. the washer just holds it in place when pinched between the bowl and the carb body itself.
 
tom or chuck do all bs cv 34s have and need that washer ,or oring , I don't remember mine having them, might be why having trouble getting it to run right
