Chuck's method of removing that rolled-over 'collar' around the top of the plug will help get it out rather neatly. But then, like he says, you've got the prospect of your own epoxy 'plug' firing out.
I found that I was able to get the porcelain out bit by bit without grinding away that rolled-over collar... but it was a lot of chipping and tapping and whacking to fracture the porcelain so that it came out bit by bit.
