A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Making Dyna green coils fit in a GS

Here we go....
They don't fit. The output posts hit the mounting bracket.

So get your grinder warmed up and slice away... and make a plunge cut. DO NOT cut from ends, you have to start in middle !

Finish it with a Dremel.

Test fit, then shoot with a little paint to prevent rust. Right side, lugs pointing forward per instructions.

Do they have to point forward ? I want to install them pointing rearward, so I can use the stock primary wires off the old coils. The wires are not long enough to reach the front of the new coils, and I don't have any OEM type connectors to use on new wire.
( left side shown pointing rearward)

Shouldt matter which way they point as long as the right wires are going to the right cylinders.

I cant see why it would matter. My stock coils were mistakenly installed backwards by me in the year 2001. I just discovered it 2 years ago....oops. all the wiring was correct so it didnt matter.

Custom builders and Harley guys put them all over the place. I had to rewire my primary quick connector on my 2011 Sportster so I could move my Coils and not have the plug wires cross each other because they were exposed and I wanted to clean things up a bit...

Thanks guys.
I put them in rearwards, looks good. and just to be safe, I checked the resistance of my old resistor caps before I put them on the new wires.
And one is shot.
3 are 10K ohms, one is 22M ohms.
I'll lose another week waiting for parts

Thanks Rusty !
But the problem is the spring, when I took it apart, I wanted to see how.. umm.. "springy" it was.
It wasn't.
It snapped at 10 deg of bend.

mm now i know why i didnt buy Dyna coils. Look ugly and hard to fit, Accel are a breeze but good job anyway

A few spacers and longer bolts from Home Depot and your in business

Dyna's ugly?? vs. pale yellow with fluorescent purple and pink trimmed logo? you don't see them anyway.. just sayin.

Any thoughts on a replacement spring while I wait for the new caps?
Nice Dyna coils with those? Get some decent NGK caps ffs.
Edit: I see that you are getting new caps ok. Get new wires while you are at it.

a heads up....

a heads up....

The Suzuki caps do not come with the rubber seals. I need to replace mine-they have dried and shrunk, likely the cause of the corrosion to begin with.....

Just installed the same coils on my GS550. Can anyone tell me which leads go to which cylinder?
