DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Manually Turn Starter Gears

Hi
Is it possible to turn starter gears / flywheel manually (in the direction starter motor would)?
I want to affirm that something in the line (gears, etc) is not stuck / corroded together / etc.

If possible to manually turn, how to go about?

Would turning the crank bolt (CCW) on the left side cover, only turn the engine: or the starter gears / flywheel as well?

Thank you for your time.

The best way to inspect the starter gears and clutch is to pull off the stator cover on the kick stand side of the engine. There is oil in there so you will need to either lean the bike the other way and secure it or drain some oil. You will also have to remove the sprocket cover.

You can do it on the stator side , or by the big nut on the ignition side

All you'll see is gears turning, unless the idler gear is not actually in place

The starter will not turn , as the starter clutch will ratchet , as it is designed to do

I see in your other thread that you have a starter issue, nope, it's a battery issue. Your battery is dead

I appreciate the input & help!
The engine / pistons are still stuck.
Timing advance mechanism 'fingers' are broken off & causes 19mm crankshaft bolt to turn freely.
Bike's backwheel still turns when it's in gear (hardest in 1st gear & easiest in 5th) & somehow isn't locked-up, even though engine is seized.

Still trying to figure out why gearbox isn't driving the crank?

You might want to stop posting the same problem in multiple threads. It clutters up the forum and makes it more difficult to follow what you're doing. I may also P!$$ off some that could be of better assistance.
