A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I've found a source for metric feeler gauges with the following sizes (mm)
0.04, 0.05, 0.06, 0.07, 0.08, 0.09, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20 ? (increments of 0.05) ? 1.00. They also have a 0.02 & 0.03 blade that can be inserted to complete the set :D.

The regular set (without the 0.02 & 0.03) is $12.20. With the power of bulk buying (if any are interested) I can have them include those two blades as part of the set at a reasonable price. I checked to have a single set made and it was over $80 . The other two blades are 12" long and come in packs of 12 at about $5 a box. Yes, it is less expensive, but....

Anyone interested in making a bulk buy to get a set????

The company is Eastern Industries -

I used to live in CT but found a european to feel my spaces. Worked out well until he discovered MA and NH and then he was off to other spaces.

You can get a BikeMaster feeler gauge set that goes down to .03mm for about $8 through just about any bike catalog. I got mine from BikeBandit.

You can also get one through Snap-On for a similar sum.

I used a set that only went down to .04 for years -- if the .04 gauge didn't go in, that shim was getting changed anyway.

I got a set of non-magnetic from snap-on, that goes down to .038 for $15.

I'd say give that, or the aforementioned option a go.

POOT

Im in the " if .04 doesnt fit, it gets changed" club. My gauges, bought at AutoZone or Advanced (cant remember which) go to .04, and thats close enough for me to change it out. I have the same SAE set as Nessism as well, but my brain simply will not allow me to use SAE measurements on a metric ANYTHING. It takes too much brain power:oops:

Harbor Freight. ~40 piece set for something like $1, and no, I am not kidding.

Harbor Freight theory: If it has 1 or fewer moving parts, it is a good product. If it has more than 1 moving part, it is a one time use part.

They also have a 0.02 & 0.03 blade that can be inserted to complete the set :D.

I don't need any - but thought I'd mention

Napa has a mm gauge that goes from 0.04 to 1mm for $11. Sears has one too.

The GS500 I had needed .03 mm. I found it hard to come by. It's extremely thin. RCH thin. I found a set with .0012 inches which is the same as the .03mm. I can't remember now where I got it. I'm sure it was a regular parts store.

.03mm = .0012 inches

Did you know that Google is great little calculator and converter?

If you enter:

0.03 mm to in

which says "convert 0.03 mm to inches"

google returns
.03 millimeters = 0.00118110236 in

Or enter:

.004 in to mm
"convert .004 inches to mm"

google returns:
.004 in = 0.1016 millimeters

a few more examples:

.5 gallons to liters (convert 1/2 gallon into liters)
returns:
.5 US gallons = 1.89270589 liters

1 lightyear to miles (convert one lightyear to miles)
returns:
1 lightyear = 5.87849981 ? 1012 miles

cos 25 degrees (cosign of 25 degrees)
returns:
cos(25 degrees) = 0.906307787
