DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

So, I have a '78 GS750 with the speedo ripped out (part of a cafe mod) and I'd like to add a tiny speedo, prolly this one:

Does anyone know if this would work with my bike? In particular, does the 750 have a electrical or mechanical that this would jive with? I'm pretty good with electronics not so good with the mechanics of a bike.

Any other suggestions for small all in one speedos that have other idicator lights too?

thanks, jon

Should work. I seem to recall from past use that the cable fits and the speedo drive ratio is the same as the '78 GS750. You'll have to devise yourown mount and wire the backlight. The matching tach will also work. BYW, these clocks (and others) are available from Mike's XS for less than the site in your link.

I've seen some Tach's with a use-range of 550 to 1000cc. I'm wondering if they'd still work "properly" with an 1100 bike? Does that extra 100cc do something to throw the reading out in some way?

That speedo works on my bike.

You will need some diodes to make the turn signal indicator and turn signals work. Basically, insert a diode to each of the turn signal wires coming from the harness (one is black the other light green), then pigtail them into the hot wire into the gauge. Otherwise, it works fine.

I just installed this on my 550 yesterday. The ratio seems spot on the stock speedo and you can actually use the stock mounting points for the old gauges for the new speedo and tach, just be sure to put an extra washer on the bolt or else it'll rattle like hell.

BTW, I'm originally from the town next door to Burbank.
