A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

So the factory starter button on my 550 is toast (spring missing, wires beat to heck, housing looks like crap) I have been looking around the interwebs for a handlebar mounted momentary switch that will work as a starter button but have either found whole switch assemblies (lots of switches/buttons) or switches that cost over $100. OR switches that dont mount to the handlebar...

I've looked on ebay, bikebandit, motorcycle superstore, and several other websites. Even went through google images to try and find one that may work but have had no luck.

I DID find one at dimecitycycles, ordered it, but when it got in, not only was the quality absolute garbage, but the switch didnt even work. So i sent it back and I dont care to try a replacement. Here is a link to the switch so that you can see more about what I'm looking for.

Anyone have a switch similar to this and like it? or anyone know of where I can find one?

Dime City Cycles is complete garbage as far as bike parts go. You might as well order your parts directly from suppliers in China.

Just get something like this and mount it somewhere under the tank or elsewhere. It would be cool to hide it from sight, as to confuse people on how you get your bike started.

I gathered as much... this switch was the first thing I've ever ordered from them and it was garbage. Looking at their other products, the rest of their stuff looks pretty "affordable" as well...

I guess thats why they call themselves "DIME" city...

I was wanting to keep it simple with the handlebar clamp but I've done hideaway switches before and liked them. I guess I'll spend the extra effort and do it on this bike too unless someone refers me to a quality switch I like.

So I left a negative review of the switch (I was not bashing Dime City) just an honest review of the switch that I thought wasnt good quality and didnt work when I got it. That was about a month ago and they still dont have the review up on their site. Just thought it was pretty shady of a company to offer a review section and then never let any of the unfavorable reviews be seen... I'll never order from them again...

Pretty common of a lot of shoddy companies dealing on the internet. All good reviews only that a are cherry picked or even made up. Caveat emptor.:-\\\

I painted my housings and got a momentary switch from radio shack and made it work.

I actually mounted a momentary hide-away switch under my gas tank the other day. Looks good (when you can actually see it) and is nice and tight on a bracket. No problems yet. I'll try and post some pictures when I get a chance.
