I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Motor Mount Positioning?

So I have a question about the motor mounts on a 78 GS750. I want to sort this out before the engine is sitting on a jack under the frame... :-\\\

Which way do the top rear mounts go, with the extra bar towards the frame or the engine?
I'm talking about part #8 in this fiche: https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/suzuki/motorcycle/1978/gs750ec/frame

This pic should make it a bit more clear what I mean by the "extra bar"

Does this go towards the engine, and I have this mount on the correct (left) side... or does it go towards the frame, and so this mount needs to go on the other side?

I cant remember which way it goes but it will be apparent once the engine is in. Pretty sure the "extra bar" faces the chassis.

Bolt up the other mounts and it will only go in one way.

My rear mounts are situated with that piece close to the frame and not on the outside as yours is. Is it for rigidity purposes...IDK?

Measure the distance of where it bolts to the engine. One way will be closer together than the other way.

It may be for more thread surface area and strength.

Yup, ok. Looks like I have it backwards... Measuring between mounts this way is too much distance. Switch them around, and it's a hair tight. Gonna have to sand the powder coat down a bit where the mounts bolt up.

As always, thanks for the help and the quick replies everybody.
