A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

That would be illegal over here and I can see problems with it. LED brake lights great, but not flashing.

I could see someone ramming your bike just to get those damned strobes out of their face.

Some of them flash two or three times when you first put on the brake light, I have them on the RT... I guess those must be OK as no one has rammed me yet.

You don't need strobes on a bike to be seen, ride with your high beems on during the day....And low beems at night,..And flash your brake light when you're comming to a stop...never had a problem with car drivers seeing me with these two practices...And I've been riding for 40 yrs....Mike

I've had flashing LEDs supplementing my brake lights for about 5 years now. I decided to get them after following a bike that had them. They do definitely enhance the noticeability of a stopping bike, but hey aren't horrible to sit behind at a light. The lighting in the video makes that particular installation look more annoying than it probably is in real life.

Some folks here have ridden behind me, and I don't remember them mentioning it to me. I'd be curious to hear their thoughts.

Legal requirements vary greatly between jurisdictions which makes it interesting & useful to hear from other areas. There is usually a good reason underlying the differences which can be interesting to instructive to discover.

Drivers in this part of the world seem to be more tolerant of lighting despite being more impatient over other matters.

One modification which seems to have worked extremely well on ST1100's is to fit panels of 3M reflective material to the rear of the trunk and to selected flat areas on the sides of the bike. The stuff is dark grey in the daylight and lights up to a silver in the dark when under direct light. It is obviously not as bright as a light but has larger area and costs no electricity. My last batch was from Reflectively Yours although a friend obtained some from a supplier down the Valley for much lower cost.

I plan to add some to the sides and rear of Suzie's Vetter bags but plan also for some additional (LED) tail & brake lights to mount to the bags.

Anyone have photos of arrangements which have been satisfactory?
