DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

On my 78 GS750EC the under side of both mufflers are pretty well shot with thin spots and several holes that have rusted through.
I've been researching the Italian made Sito replacements and they seem to be high quality, the price seems to be pretty good, and those that I have talked to that have used them seem to like them. So I'm going to keep an eye out this winter to see if possibly the current state of he ecomomy will create some bargain prices for these.
The Sito mufflers seem to be very close in appearance to the stock mufflers. Do any of you feel they are close enough to stock that I will probably not have to do any jetting changes or fuel or air adjustments?
I keep reading that I probably will need to, yet on the other hand one guy writes and said he used Sito replacements and had to make no adjustments at all.
I appreciate your thoughts.

i've been looking for aftermarket 4 into 2 replacement exhausts and i have found one from Dennis Kirk - Sito mufflers. The only question i had was the exhaust would fit a '78 or '70 to '81. I know there is a difference between the '79 and '80 exhaust. The '80 had an "H" connection underneath whereas the '79 is separate/straight between the 1 & 2 and 3 & 4th exhaust. I've been told the '80 "H" would fit but don't know what mods would have to be used to make the fit.

Probably not any.

I don't know about mounting further back on the machine-- how close to the same that is, but you shouldn't have to do anything to accommodate for the H.

I think...

The Sito that was on my '78 Honda was an exact replacement muffler for the HM300? OEM. other than the name on it you couldn't tell.
alas, it was rusted out, so I replaced it with the correct one the came with the spare parts for the bike.
