A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

What are your favorite products/tools etc for detailing and cleaning your bike?

My wife's toothbrush.:D:clap:

I'm here all week, tip your waitresses and bartenders.

But seriously folks, I like the toothbrush and Purple Power cleaner. Engine brite to get the goopy gunk off the bottom of my motor. Yes, I'm still cleaning it. For polishing, I just bought a cheapie drill from Harbor freight and a aluminum polishing kit from there also. I'm getting good results with it, and it's a low cost alternative to some other stuff out there.

Dunno...

...ride in the rain? :-k

I'm severely cleaning-impaired, but trying to change my ways.

Simple Green on the grungy bits, a bit of manual scrubbing and rinsing of really filthy bits, then go over the shiny bits with (paint, plastic, chrome, glass) with Honda spray wax, and that's about all I can stand to do for a couple of months.

I'm a "Purple Power" then garden hose kind of guy myself. I do take good care of the body parts, and they really shine. But the engine and frame stuff - well, if you ride much and get caught in the rain a time or two, it's pretty much futile to try real hard.

I'm with you man. I would love to have this sparkling bike all the time, but I just can't stand to spend hours cleaning it all the time. Wipe down the tank, tail, side covers and aluminum cases and I'm done.

I use a Dremel and toothbrushes too.

I use "Awesome". It's cheap and better than any other cleaner/degreaser I have seen, including Purple Power, Simple Green, Green Magic etc...

I use Nevr Dull and Mothers for my polishing needs.

For the waxes, I am a Meguiars man.

i think i'll try some of that monty. I used to use simple green, found purple power and that it works better, now this. i'll order it up and give it a try.

You can find it at most Wal-marts and Dollar Stores.

I clean my hands with it
My wife uses it for laundry stains.
It has LOTS of uses.

White Diamond for the polishing. You'll never use Mother's or anything else again

Cleanup methods

Try using a Mr. Clean Car Washing gizmo. Used as directed, it'll wash off dirt and leave a nice wax-like shine, and with NO wiping afterwards. The key is the final rinse with de-ionized water, which dries without spotting.

Mr. Clean will not remove grease and oil, so you still need to use your favorite product for that.

Target is one place that sells Mr. Clean Car Washing kits and supplies.

I have found that Blue Magic metal polish paste works well on chrome, especially exhausts. Only problem, my supply now used up, and cannot find anymore in South Africa! Similar product now available here is called Autosol metal polish, but have not tried that yet.
