my exhausts has just lost it's baffles DOH!!!!!

Can some one help me I wos just coming home from work when my baffles blew out of my exhaust and went straight under a bus 8O i.e flat as a pan cake. which exhaust would fit on my gs1150e or new end can. on a good point it sounds lovely but I've gone beaf and need new windows in my house. :lol: :lol:

Heh, I see your mac Header is just as rusty as mine.
I don't feel so bad now hehehehhe.

I know dennis kirk sells replacement baffles for the MAC end-can.
This time make sure you put a screw/bolt through the little hole on the edge of the can to hold in the baffle. The sealant they put on the baffle/can is good but eventually I had a feeling it would give and the baffle would go flying out the can.

Do you know of another muffler that can be put on out MAC headers?
I want to put a sportbike muffler on this header so bad I can almost taste it.

What OD is the mid pipe? If it is 2" there are a ton of mufflers that will fit, since most of the current sport bikes run a 2" mid pipe. Beware that current canisters are BIG and will likely look a bit out of place on your GS and/or will limit cornering clearance. My choice would be a '00-up GSXR 750 canister. They bolt on with a flange, so you can make up a flange to mid pipe adapter that will take care of any diameter mismatches and they are light and flow lots of air. E-bay is full of them for $20 or less if you watch for a bit. I also believe it is possible to tear them apart (not true of many OEM cans) and strip out some of the baffle is it is too quiet for you.

Well, my problem is that the MAC system only comes with a Header and an exhaust can. They made the header 2.5 inches wide where it connects to the exhaust can. Because of that I can't find a mid-pipe from any modern exhaust systems that will mount to the header.
*stupid MAC* :evil:

I thought that I would have to have a custom mid-pipe created and then have the flange welded onto it if I was going to have a kewl exhaust.

It's either that or buy a Supertrapp or V&H header...

I wish I would have just waited another week and saved up for the V&H system I could have gotten. Now it's too late...

Thanks for the help I got a new exhaust can from mac it be here in the UK in 4 weeks time and spare baffle. but allso got me a Scorpion Oval exhaust can and cut 4" off it and 1/2 the baffles us the old can as the flange cut it down to 7" long and welded to the Scorpion can. ( looks good sounds crap) will post pic

Kinda late posting here I know, but sunday my supercrapp can gave it up and by the time I got home I was partially deaf!!

I took a stock GSXR1000R (2002) end can and hooked it straight onto my header. In all with bracketry and the like it took a couple of hours to sort. Its so ferking quiet I have to check the bike is running... No more BLLLLLLAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTTTTT! more a subtle whooooooooossssssshhh.... THe bike is transformed too, with better low end, a well enriched midrange and mental top end. I spent most of the morning messing around in town with a lot of air under the front wheel.... Keeps me under the radar with the local traffic cops too...

Did I say I had a mac header? i dont think so, but you are right, the collector was 2.5 but in a previous life (I wend out and checked) someone welded in a reducer and clamped on the supercrapp silencer. Henceforth, when I got the GSX jobbie all I had to do was lash up some brackerty and using a standard auto exhaust clamp, clamp it on...

One day soonish I will have my local machinist knock up a couple of pretty hangers for it, but till then I am using a roll of metal bracket used for holding plastic drainage pipe in false ceilings. the roll of about 30ft cost me $1.65 and hence I doubled it up for strength and it seems to keep everything in place...

AH-HA!!! SO THAT'S THE ANSWER!!!

Take an Autozone Reducer and have it welded on!!!!
(Runs off to autozone to buy a reducer for the slip on exhaust.)
